Build Your Future Today (BFT) is a Cambodian nonprofit that has been providing critical services to financially disadvantaged communities for over 20 years.
BFT’s Founder, Sedtha Long, first opened his family’s home to children in need of shelter and education, which led to BFT’s learning center to aid the poorest communities in Siem Reap. To holistically and sustainably address the development challenges our founder and team observed in the community, BFT expanded to offer comprehensive services targeting health, education, nutrition, peacebuilding, and capacity building.
Today, BFT operates as a small team of professionals working alongside regional and international partners, volunteers, stakeholders, and skilled professionals, uplifting villages in need.

MEET OUT FOUNDER
When the Khmer Rouge invaded Phnom Penh on 17 April 1975, Sedtha was just 16 years old.
Separated from his family, Sedtha survived the long hours of working in rice fields, looking after cows, and building two dams, in conditions of near-starvation and fear.
Being one of the few educated survivors of the Khmer Rouge years, Sedtha saw education as the key to rebuilding Cambodia. BFT is not just an organization; it is Sedtha’s legacy and a powerful testament to one man’s incredible drive to give back to his neighbors and his resiliency.
